defense strategy among defendants: in legal proceedings, a defense strategy in which two or more defendants join and cooperate with one another, their attorneys working together and sharing information. Such defendants can assert attorney-client privilege not only with respect to statements made in confidence to their own attorneys, but also to attorneys of codefendants.
