Definition:
 
1. middle: the exact center of something

2. top or bottom of piston stroke: the position at the top or bottom of a piston stroke in a reciprocating engine or pump, at which point the piston and the connecting rod are in a straight line

3. pointed rod in lathe: a nonrotating pointed shaft mounted at both ends or one end of a lathe to support the workpiece and hold it in place
