1. plain in southwestern Greece, in the western Peloponnese, near the Ionian Sea. It was an ancient religious site sacred to Zeus, and the first Olympic Games were held there in 776 bc.
2. city and capital of Washington, situated at the mouth of the Deschutes River on Puget Sound in the western part of the state. It has a deep-water port, and is a commercial and manufacturing center.
Population: 44,645 (2006).
