nonspecific viral liver disease: an acute chronic viral disease of the liver, similar to hepatitis B but caused by neither the hepatitis A nor the hepatitis B virus. Among the several new hepatitis viruses discovered relatively recently, non-A, non-B hepatitis, in most cases, is thought to be due to hepatitis C virus.
