Ko·so·vo [ káwssə v ]province in southwestern Serbia. The administrative center is Priština. Large numbers of the majority Albanian population were displaced by a Serbian program of ethnic cleansing in the 1990s. Since 1999 Kosovo has been a United Nations supervised region. Population: 1,804,838 (2009 estimate).
