member of Native N American confederacy: a member of a confederacy of Iroquoian peoples who lived around the Great Lakes and now live in Quebec, Ontario, and Oklahoma. During the 17th century, the population was greatly reduced by continual warring with the Iroquois and the arrival of smallpox and other European diseases.
