1. sliding movement on keyboard or harp: an act of sliding a finger or thumb up or down a keyboard or harp strings from one note to another

2. sliding movement on violin or trombone: an act of sliding a finger along a stringed instrument's fingerboard or slowly moving a trombone's slide in and out to create a smooth change in pitch between two notes
