Cultural Note

The Secret Garden, a children's story (1911) by British writer Frances Hodgson Burnett. It is the tale of a lonely orphan, Mary Lennox, who is sent to live with her uncle Archibald, a widower whose wife died as a result of a fall from a tree in her beloved garden. In restoring the garden, Mary finds happiness and helps the family recover from its misfortune.
