Falkland Islands

Falk·land Is·lands [ fáwlklənd ləndz ] or Falk·lands [ fáwlkləndz ] group of islands and British dependency in the South Atlantic Ocean, 483 km (300 mi) east of the Strait of Magellan. After a brief war in 1982 with the United Kingdom, the government of Argentina maintains its claim to these islands.
