French West Africa
French West Af·ri·ca [ frènch wèst áffrikə ] former French colonial territory in western Africa between 1895 and 1958. It consisted of the present countries of Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, and Senegal.
