Chongqing
Chong·qing [ chàwng chíng, chng chíng ] or Chung·king [ chàwng chíng, chng chíng ] or Ch'ung-ch'ing [ chàwng chíng, chng chíng ] city on the Yangtze River in southern Sichuan Province, southwestern China. It was China's capital from 1937 to 1946.
Population: 3,470,000 (1995).
