Definition:
 
1. line that shows shape: the outer edge or edges of something thought of as a line defining its shape
I could see the outline of the trees against the sky.

2. line depicting shape of something: a line drawn around or depicting the outside edges of something to show its shape

3. drawing without shading: a style or example of drawing in which an object or figure is shown as an outline ( often used before a noun )

4. rough plan: a general, preliminary, or rough plan or account of something, that concentrates on the main features and ignores detail, e.g. a list of the main points covered or to be covered in a speech ( often used before a noun )
