Definition:
 
1. somebody or something that modifies something: somebody or something that makes slight changes to something, especially to improve it

2. word qualifying another: a word or phrase that affects the meaning of another, usually describing it or restricting its meaning. "Pink" in the phrase "the pink ribbon," "fire" in the compound "fire alarm," and "in the morning" in the sentence "She always goes jogging in the morning" are modifiers.
