miscue

mis·cue [ miss ky ]


noun  (plural mis·cues)
Definition:
 
1. cue games faulty shot in billiards: in billiards, a shot that fails because the cue does not strike the cue ball properly

2. mistake: a mistake, especially one that involves giving somebody the wrong cue to say or begin something or giving a cue at the wrong time ( informal )
