verb  (past and past participle mend·ed, present participle mend·ing, 3rd person present singular mends)
Definition:
 
1. transitive and intransitive verb restore something to satisfactory condition: to restore something that is damaged or faulty to its original condition or a satisfactory condition

2. transitive verb remove damage: to fill, cover, or otherwise remove damage such as a hole or break

3. transitive and intransitive verb improve something: to improve something or make it more acceptable, or be improved or made more acceptable

4. intransitive verb recover or heal: to return to a healthy state after illness or injury
