Definition:
 
1. puzzle made of connecting paths: an area of interconnected weaving paths that it is difficult to find a way through, especially one in a garden with hedges between the paths or one designed for laboratory animals

2. route tracing puzzle: a diagrammatic version of a maze, where the object is to arrive at a finish point by tracing a route with a pen or pencil

3. confusing network of paths: a network of paths, streets, or passageways that a walker or driver might easily become lost in
a maze of narrow passageways

4. confusing muddle: any confusing tangle or muddle, e.g. of regulations or procedures, that is difficult to negotiate
a maze of official rules
