Definition:
 
1. line used to control animal: a strap, chain, or rope used to control the animal it is attached to, especially a dog

2. restraint: something that controls or restrains somebody
Our supervisor keeps us on a short leash.

3. three animals together: a set of three animals of one type, especially hounds
