Definition:
 
1. imaginary line around Earth: an imaginary line joining points on Earth's surface that are all of equal distance north or south of the equator

2. area of Earth's surface: a region of the Earth's surface near a particular latitude ( often used in the plural )
snow showers in the northerly latitudes

3. room to maneuver: enough scope or leeway for some freedom of choice, action, or thinking
