Definition:
 
1. glossy synthetic coating: a hard, glossy, clear or colored coating made up of resins or cellulose derivatives and a plasticizer in a volatile solvent

2. varnish: a varnish made from the sap of an eastern Asian tree. Use: protective coating, especially for wood.
