1. workers collectively: the workers, especially manual workers, in a country, company, or industry considered as a group ( often used before a noun )

Cultural Note

Love's Labour's Lost, a play by English dramatist William Shakespeare (1594-1595). Ferdinand, king of Navarre, and three of his lords agree to forgo the company of women in order to devote themselves to study. The arrival of the Princess of France and three of her ladies upsets their plans, giving rise to lively comedy and witty and poetic dialogue.
