Definition:
 
1. history French Revolutionary extremist: a member of a group of left-wing extremists founded during the French Revolution. In 1793, they overthrew the more moderate republicans, the Girondists, and this allowed Robespierre, the leader of the group, to adopt revolutionary measures and begin the Reign of Terror.

2. politics left-wing extremist: a political radical, especially one who holds extreme left-wing views
