Definition:
 
1. transitive and intransitive verb insert tube in windpipe: to insert a tube through the vocal cords and into the windpipe in order to provide a patient's lungs with oxygen, usually during surgery under anesthesia

2. transitive verb insert tube in somebody: to treat a patient by inserting a tube into the windpipe so that oxygen can be supplied to the lungs
