Definition:
 
1. transitive and intransitive verb receive something when somebody dies: to become the owner of something when somebody dies, in accordance with legal succession or the terms of a will, or as the result of a bequest or legacy

2. transitive verb receive characteristic or quality from parent: to receive a characteristic or quality as a result of its being passed on genetically

3. transitive verb get something from predecessor: to take something over from the person or group who previously lived in a place or did a job
