earliest South Asian civilization: a Bronze-Age civilization that flourished in the lower Indus River Valley, mainly in present-day Pakistan and northern India, from about 2500 to 1700 bc. It was the earliest known civilization in South Asia and, with Mesopotamia and Egypt, one of the earliest anywhere in the world.
