Definition:
 
1. pressed-in shape: a pattern, design, or mark that is made by pressing something down on or into something else
saw the imprint of a foot on the soil

2. lasting effect: an effect that remains and is recognizable for a long time
The years of occupation left their imprint on all the inhabitants.

3. special mark: a printed or stamped sign on an object, e.g. to indicate its origin

4. publishing printed publication details: the name and address of the publisher and printer as shown in the front of a book

Definition:
 
1. transitive verb mark something by pressing: to put a shape or design on something such as the surface of an object using a stamp or printing device

3. intransitive verb zoology establish social attachments: to learn an attraction to members of the same species or substitutes very early in life.
