Definition:
 
1. advance of money: an advance payment of money, especially to somebody who is to carry out business for a government

2. loan to draw on: a loan, usually in the form of a petty cash account, that can be drawn on as needed

3. advance payment: a payment formerly made in advance to a British soldier or sailor on enlistment
