transitive verb 
Definition:
 
1. restrict movement of somebody or something: to prevent somebody or something from moving ( often passive )

2. put machine out of action: to make a machine or device stop working, or adjust or damage it so that it cannot be made to work

3. medicine keep broken limb still: to rest a joint or keep the parts of a fractured limb fixed in place so that they are unable to move

4. finance take money out of circulation: to withdraw money or other capital from circulation to establish a reserve
