Definition:
 
1. transitive verb move something using much effort: to pull, push, lift, or throw something heavy by exerting great physical effort, especially in a concentrated or concerted burst
We picked up the sack and heaved it into the truck.

2. intransitive verb exert physical effort in rhythmic burst: to exert great physical effort, especially in concentrated or concerted rhythmic bursts, when pulling on a rope or attempting to move something heavy
