grope [ grōp ] (past and past participle groped, present participle grop·ing, 3rd person present singular gropes)

Definition:
 
1. intransitive verb search by feeling: to search for something blindly or uncertainly by feeling with the hands
groping for the light switch

2. intransitive verb be without guidance: to strive blindly or uncertainly for something

3. transitive verb feel your way uncertainly: to feel your way forward slowly and hesitantly, e.g. in the dark
