freck·le [ frék'l ]


noun  (plural freck·les)
Definition:
 
brown skin spot: a harmless small brownish patch on somebody's skin, usually one of a cluster, that becomes larger and deeper in color when the skin is exposed to the sun. Freckles are caused by the presence of larger melanin-containing cells in the basal layer of the skin.
