1. not permitted: not allowed by order of somebody or by law
That's a forbidden subject in this company.

2. out of bounds: to which entry is not allowed, or allowed only to a specific person or group of people
This part of the temple was forbidden to everybody except the high priest.

3. physics improbable or disallowed as energy level: describes an energy level or transition in a quantum mechanical system that is either highly improbable or disobeys selection rules and is therefore not allowed
