1. part of anchor: either of the triangular blades at the end of each arm of an anchor

2. barb on harpoon or arrow: a barb on the head of a harpoon or an arrow, or the barbed head itself

3. part of whale's tail: either of the two horizontal lobes of the tail of a whale or similar sea animal, used in propelling the animal through the water
