Cultural Note

Animal Farm, a novel (1945) by British writer George Orwell. A satirical allegory of Stalinist Russia, it describes how a group of farm animals, led by pigs, overthrow their human owner and try to run the farm on egalitarian principles. Corrupted by power, the pigs distort their ideology to support their increasingly brutal tyranny, justifying their actions with slogans such as "All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others.".
