Definition:
 
1. give outward expression to something: to express ideas or feelings in some visible or perceptible way in order to communicate them to somebody else

2. perceive something as external: to attribute something to causes in the outside world

3. psychology attribute feelings to outside causes: to attribute emotions or inner conflicts to outside causes, sources, or surroundings
