Definition:
 
1. extending or being extended: the act or process of increasing the size, scope, range, or application of something, or the fact of being increased in size, scope, range, or application
the extension of parental leave to fathers
the extension of the waterway network

2. additional period of time: an additional period of time allowed for completion of work or payment of a debt
You'll never finish that paper on time: why don't you ask for an extension?

3. range: the range or sphere over which something extends

4. telecommunications additional telephone line: an additional telephone line or telephone connected to the main line in a building or organization, often having its own number

5. telecommunications telephone number of extension: the number used to contact a telephone extension within a building or organization
