Definition:
 
1. study something: to inspect or study somebody or something in detail
examine the scene for fingerprints

2. investigate something: to analyze something in order to understand or expose it
examine your conscience

3. education test somebody: to test the knowledge or ability of somebody by giving written, oral, or practical examinations

4. medicine inspect condition of patient: to inspect a patient in order to determine his or her condition or health
examined by a qualified physician

5. law interrogate witness: to ask questions of a witness or other party to a case in a court of law
