especially

es·pe·cial·ly [ i spésh'lee ]

adverb
Definition:

1. exceptionally: to an unusual or exceptional degree

2. particularly: used to single out one among a range
They're a helpful group, especially Mark.

3. chiefly: in most cases

4. specially: for a particular or specific purpose

Word Usage
especially or specially?

Although traditionally there is a clear difference in meaning, both words are often used when the other is intended: The hotel has specially designed ramps for the physically challenged. (Specially is wanted here because the ramps are designed "for a special purpose.") The buildings are not especially large. (Especially is wanted here because the buildings are not "exceptionally" large.) In rapid conversation, the first syllable of especially tends to be slurred or omitted, and this practice can affect the correct choice when the words are written.
