1. person for whom something is named: a person or mythical character from whom something such as an invention, activity, or place takes its name

2. name derived from person: a name derived from the name of a person or mythical character. For example, "Rome" is an eponym coming from "Romulus."

3. medicine medical name from person: a medical name, e.g. that of a disease, derived from the name of a person
