1. transitive and intransitive verb bear hardship: to experience exertion, pain, or hardship without giving up
The nation endured years of war to create a lasting peace.

2. transitive verb tolerate disagreeable things: to tolerate or accept somebody or something that is extremely disagreeable ( formal )
I cannot endure that song.

3. intransitive verb survive: to last or survive over a period of time, especially when faced with difficulties
The philosophical ideas of the ancient Greeks endure to this day.
