Definition:
 
1. height above location: the height above a specific reference point, especially sea level
at an elevation of 1,000 feet above sea level

2. raising something, or being raised: the act of raising somebody or something in height or status, or the process of being raised in height or status
They congratulated him on his elevation to the cardinalship.

3. ability to jump, or height reached: especially in ballet or figure skating, the ability of somebody to jump high and hold the position briefly, or the height somebody can reach in jumping

4. increase: an increase in something ( technical )
Among the effects was an elevation in the level of dopamine.

5. architecture architectural drawing of side of building: a scale drawing of any side of a building or other structure
the front elevation of the proposed new wing

6. civil engineering angle in surveying: the angle between a horizontal line and the line from a surveying instrument to a point above the horizontal, e.g. between eye level and a line to a nearby rooftop

7. arms angle of gun barrel above horizontal: the angle to which the barrel of a large gun is raised above the horizontal

8. christianity raising of Host and chalice: the raising up and showing to the people of the Host or chalice by a priest immediately after their consecration during a Mass

9. astronomy
