	economic or economical? The adjective economic denotes economics or the economy, and is concerned with aspects of the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services: a Nobel Laureate's economic theories. The adjective economical, on the other hand, has to do with the prudent management of resources and attempts to reduce expenditures: It is much more economical to buy in bulk. Public transportation is economical, compared with hiring a limousine. But the two adjectives can overlap in one sense, "efficient in terms of avoiding unnecessary expenditure": an economical [or economic] use of electricity.
