Definition:
 
1. transitive verb throw something away: to get rid of something that is not wanted or needed

2. transitive verb reject card: in some card games, to put down a card from a hand and not play it

3. transitive and intransitive verb play card: in a card game such as bridge or whist, to play a card so that it has no value, because it is neither in the required suit nor a trump
