Definition:
 
1. give distinction to something: to give honor or an aura of importance to something

2. give undeserved attention to something: to treat somebody or something as honorable or worthy of attention when this treatment is undeserved
I won't dignify his insult with a response.

3. ennoble somebody: to award an honor to somebody, or raise somebody to noble rank
