Definition:
 
1. politics powerful ruler: a leader who rules a country with absolute power, usually by force

2. bossy person: somebody who is regarded as behaving in an autocratic or domineering way

3. authority on subject: somebody whose opinions on a subject are listened to and followed by society at large
one of the great dictators of modern music

4. somebody who gives dictation: a speaker of words out loud so that somebody else can transcribe them

5. ancient hist temporary Roman ruler: in ancient Rome, a temporary appointed leader with absolute power to deal with a crisis or an emergency
