dew, do, or due? Do not confuse the spelling of dew, do, and due, which sound similar. Dew is chiefly used as a noun, denoting droplets of moisture, as in the morning dew on the grass. Do is a very common verb with a wide range of meanings, principally "perform an action" (as in do the housework), and is occasionally used as a noun (as in dos and don'ts). Due is used as an adjective, meaning "expected," "ready," "appropriate," or "owed" (as in due for promotion, after due consideration), or as a noun denoting something due (as in give him his due, pay your dues).
