1. tightly packed: so close together that there is little sense of open or unoccupied space
a dense jungle
a dense population of 2 million

2. very thick: so thick that it is difficult or impossible to see through
dense summer haze

3. hard to penetrate intellectually: so complex and intricate that it is difficult to assimilate and understand

4. slow to learn or understand: considered to lack the ability to learn or understand quickly ( informal insult )

5. with high mass: with a relatively high mass per unit volume
