Definition:
 
1. separate objects: to separate or disengage one thing from another

2. reduce interdependence: to remove or weaken the interaction between two electronic circuits, subsystems, or systems so that there is little or no transfer or feedback of energy between them

3. physics lessen strength of shock waves: to reduce or eliminate airborne shock waves from a nuclear or other explosion by detonating a device deep underground
