noun  (plural deb·its)
Definition:
 
1. recorded debt or expense: an entry showing a debt or expense in a record of accounts

2. sum of money deducted: an amount of money taken out of an account

3. total of debts or expenses: the total of individual debit entries in an account

4. column for recording debts or expenses: a column on the left of an accounting statement where debts and expenses are recorded

5. drawback: something that is disadvantageous or unfavorable
The pay's better, but on the debit side there's a lot more work to do.
