Definition:
 
1. 24 hours: a period of 24 hours, usually beginning and ending at midnight

2. sunrise to sunset: the part of a 24-hour period when it is light, between sunrise and sunset

3. time of activity: the part of a 24-hour period when somebody is working or active
I work an 8-hour day.

4. indefinite period or point in time: a time or period of time in the past, present, or future
