curb

curb [ kurb ]


noun  (plural curbs)
Definition:
 
1. roads edge of street: a line of concrete or asphalt that forms part of the gutter at the edge of a street

2. edging for lawn: a line of stones that forms the edge of an area of lawn

3. imposed limitation: something that controls or limits something else
sought a curb on drug trafficking

4. raised part that surrounds something: an enclosing frame or raised margin, e.g. around a skylight or a well

5. riding horse's bit and attached chain: a horse's bit with a chain or strap attached, passed under the horse's jaw
